The purpose of the Library is to provide and promote a collection that meets and stimulates the informational, recreational, and cultural needs of individuals from early childhood to senior years. It exists to serve the citizens of Talladega County, with "citizens" encompassing people of all ages, economic backgrounds, educational levels, occupations, philosophies, and ethnic origins. Recognizing its limitations in providing all services, the Library commits to fulfilling the following roles: community information center, formal education support center, popular materials center, a gateway to learning for preschoolers, and a reference library. In pursuit of these roles, the Library aims to achieve the following goals: - To serve the community as a reliable source of information. - To assemble, preserve, and manage the best books and other library materials to promote informed citizenship and enrich personal lives. - To initiate activities that encourage the effective use of these materials. - To provide opportunities and support for lifelong education for individuals of all ages. - To collaborate with educational, civic, and cultural groups and organizations whose objectives align with those of the Library.
